I remember when Shawn wrote this gorgeous song, in about 1984 or so, she used to introduce it as having written it "on the D train to the Bronx." It was one of the first songs she'd written and she proved herself right then and there to be a great songwriter. I've only performed it once, with Ellis Paul one night.
