We have sixteen residence halls on our main campus in Cullowhee. Each building is unique with it's own special appeal and amenities. The communities within each residence hall are built by the students who live there and supported by the WCU Resident Life Staff.

On-campus living provides students greater opportunities to become involved with the university, to meet and develop relationships with a greater variety of people, and to participate in a living experience that is unique to university life.

Black Rock is one of Western Carolina University's newest residence halls. The building is named after Blackrock Mountain which is part of the Plott Balsams. The mountain is located approximately 16 miles from WCU's campus and offers clear views of Sylva and Cullowhee.

All residence halls at Western Carolina University feature the following amenities: Wireless internet access throughout the building; Exterior door access controlled by Cat Card (student ID) Non-smoking building with 50 foot non-smoking perimeter ; Resident Assistant staff; Professional staff on call 24 hours a day
