The campaign opposing a sports betting constitutional amendment on Missouri’s November ballot canceled more than $1 million in television ads Thursday just as the group pushing the proposal launched new ads featuring beloved St.

Backers of Missouri Amendment 2, which would legalized sports gambling, claim in TV and online ads that the resulting revenue will boost public education. But its detractors point out there is no evidence Missouri schools will see any benefit.

Amendment 2 doesn’t address video lottery machines. The sports betting amendment includes these regulations: Background checks for people/companies applying for a sports betting license. People convicted of felonies or gambling offenses can’t run the operations.
