New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are this week. Here's which grocery stores will be open and closed on Dec. 31 this year.

Costco stores are open on New Year's Eve, but may stores have modified hours, opening at 9 a.m. and closing at 6 p.m. Most Walmart stores have regular hours on Tuesday, open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Most Target stores are open at 8 a.m. on Dec. 31, but close early, at 9 p.m.

If you’re looking for some last-minute party food or beer, don’t wait until usual closing time on New Year’s Eve. Some South Florida supermarkets are closing earlier for the holiday. Here’s what to know about the major grocery chains and drugstores that carry food and drink:

The 800 new Aldi stores combing by the end of 2028 will be a combination of new openings and store conversions, as USA TODAY previously reported. In August 2023, Aldi acquired about 400 Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarkets located in the Southeast, according to a news release.

Per state law, grocery stores can't be open on Christmas Day. Whether it's Market Basket, Whole Foods, Dave's Fresh Marketplace, Stop & Shop or Trader Joe's, your regular grocery store won't be open, so you'll have to go to a convenience store instead.
