An airliner veered off the runway and erupted into a fireball as it slammed into a wall at South Korea's Muan International Airport on Sunday.

The plane crash is the first major test for South Korea’s acting president, Choi Sang-mok, who had been appointed the interim leader only on Friday, as the country grapples with a political crisis at the highest levels.

The crash occurred as a Jeju Air passenger plane, carrying 175 passengers and six crew on a flight from Bangkok, was landing Sunday morning.
