A tornado watch is now in effect for West Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge, Pointe Coupee, West Feliciana, East Feliciana, and St. Helena parishes in Louisiana and Pike, Amite, and Wilkinson counties in Mississippi.

Severe thunderstorms have returned to the South on Sunday prompting Tornado Watches for Arkansas, western and northern Louisiana and East and Southeast Texas.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Lafayette and all of Acadiana until 3 p.m. Saturday as severe weather moves through Texas and Louisiana.

On Thursday, the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for the Houston metro area as a severe storm system is rolling through Texas.

As severe weather remains possible for Southeast Texas, a tornado watch has been extended for three counties in the area. The National Weather Service Lake Charles has extended a tornado watch for Hardin, Jasper and Newton counties until 9 p.m. on Sunday.
