PHILLIP ISLAND, Australia (Reuters) -Six-times MotoGP champion Marc Marquez put on a master class to win the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix ahead of world championship leader Jorge Martin at Phillip Island on Sunday.

The Spaniard had quite the tumble down the order from P2 as the rear tyre of his Ducati spun on the line after catching the tear off of his own Shoei helmet’s visor as he threw it away before the start.

Jorge Martin stretched his lead in the MotoGP World Championship to 20 points over Pecco Bagnaia with a second place behind Gresini racing’s Marc Marquez in the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island.

Jorge Martin of Prima Pramac Racing led from lap one to the chequered flag to win the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix sprint on Saturday, stretching his world championship lead over two-times MotoGP champion Francesco Bagnaia.
