Melissa Rivers revealed during an interview with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins that she managed to save her mother Joan Rivers’ prized Emmy award before her house burned down in the L.A. fires (via Entertainment Weekly).

Melissa said her "heart is so broken" as the Pacific Palisades was "wiped off the map" by the fires: "That's the end of everything that belonged to my family and the history of it."

In the frantic moments before flames devoured her Pacific Palisades residence, Melissa Rivers managed to rescue precious mementos of her late mother, Joan Rivers, including a coveted Emmy Award and an irreplaceable family drawing.

Rivers is among several celebrities who have lost their homes in the wildfires, including Leighton Meester and Adam Brody, Paris Hilton, Anna Faris, Billy Crystal, James Woods, and others. More than 1,000 homes, businesses, and buildings have been destroyed by the devastating fires across the Los Angeles area.

Paris Hilton also lost her home, watching it burn on live TV. Billy Crystal and Ricki Lake also confirmed their homes were destroyed, while Brad Paisley is mourning the loss of the house he raised his family in. As wildfires continue to devastate the Los Angeles area, many celebrities including Anna Faris, Melissa Rivers, Billy Crystal and Paris Hilton are mourning the loss of their family homes.

The Emmy Award won by Joan Rivers in 1990 for her daytime talk show is one of the few things grabbed by her daughter Melissa Rivers as she fled her Pacific Palisades home before it fell victim to the Los Angeles fires.
