A river of lava flowing for around 3 kilometres down the volcano has been imaged by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellites

The latest eruption of Mount Etna in Sicily has drawn crowds of photographers, hikers and nature aficionados, which have congested streets and clogged paths for rescue crews.

Skiing on an erupting volcano certainly isn’t for the faint-hearted, but it wasn’t enough to deter a team of professional skiers recently, who glided where lava meets snow on the flank of Mount Etna.

NASA has shared stunning images of a lava flow on the snow-covered summit of Mount Etna. Located in Sicily, Mount Etna is one of the most active volcanoes in Europe and this new geological feature has attracted tourists,
