With no votes against it, the Georgia House of Representatives overwhelmingly voted to create a new safety alert, the Autism Missing Person Alert System.

ATLANTA — In a full floor vote on Tuesday, the Georgia House of Representatives passed a ban on students having cellphones, tablets and other devices while in school. The Distraction-Free Education Act passed the House with broad support across both political parties, with 143 votes in favor and just 29 opposed.

State Rep. Dale Washburn is sponsoring House Bill 225, which aims to reverse the 2018 legislation that allowed cameras to be placed in school zones. Washburn argues that the cameras are abusing Central Georgians. "It is really being misused," Washburn said.
