Chelsea begin their 2025 Club World Cup campaign against LAFC on Monday in Atlanta. After arriving at their Philadelphia base in the United States on Friday, which saw Chelsea name an initial 28-man squad for the competition, Enzo Maresca's side are preparing to target more silverware following their Conference League triumph last month.

LAFC only recently qualified for the Club World Cup as they defeated Club América in a match that decided who would replace the excluded Club Leon in Group D. Chelsea will be confident following their positive end of the season, but will need to be wary of LAFC, who have averaged 1.9 goals per game in the MLS so far this season.

Chelsea play a Pep Guardiola-influenced style: a possession-focused, positional game. The nominal starting formation is a standard 4-3-3 but one of Maresca’s full-backs will usually ‘ invert’, often into the base of midfield and sometimes into one of the attacking half-spaces.
