The protest against the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination irregularities has entered its 17th day, gaining significant momentum. Prashant Kishor, the founder of Jan Suraj, joined the movement by starting an indefinite hunger strike near the Gandhi statue at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan on Thursday evening.

The district administration in Patna said that Kishor’s strike was illegal and an FIR was being registered against the Jan Suraaj party founder.

Suraaj founder, began a hunger strike demanding the cancellation of a controversial Bihar Public Service Commission exam. Allegations of corruption and a call for government job reservation policies were central.

Kishor made the announcement at the historic Gandhi Maidan in the state capital, three days after giving a "48-hour ultimatum" to the Nitish Kumar government for acting on the demand, raised by aggrieved candidates.

Prashant Kishor on Monday had said that he would wait for "48 hours" and if no action is taken then he would intensify the protests.

Political strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor began an indefinite hunger strike on Thursday, demanding the cancellation of the Bihar Civil Services (BPSC) examination. The candidates of the examination have been staging protests for over a week seeking the cancellation of the 70th Integrated Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination
