Todd Drosky will continue serving in the Deerfield Beach government under a new title: Mayor. On Tuesday, the District 4 Commissioner took 56% of the vote to defeat real estate investor Dan Herz, a fellow Republican, and secure the right to succeed term-limited Bill Ganz as the city’s top official.

Deerfield Beach, celebrating its 100th birthday this year, has some challenges it will need to deal with as voters choose new city leadership on March 11.

Come Tuesday night, one of South Florida’s beachside communities will have a new mayor. One candidate running in Deerfield Beach is a veteran commissioner, the other is one of the city’s loudest critics.
