A State of Emergency will go into effect at noon Tuesday in the City of Savannah as officials prepare for expected winter weather.

As snow fall and icy conditions gripped much of Georgia, the Department of Transportation is working overnight to treat roads in all around the state.

This isn’t the first time Georgia Department of Transportation has prepped roads for winter weather, but GDOT says their methods have improved since the last blast of winter weather Savannah saw, back in 2018.
