Tarik Skubal pitched seven shoutout innings, Parker Meadows hit a three-run homer and the Detroit Tigers beat the Baltimore Orioles 4-1.

On Monday, the Tigers claimed 28-year-old right-hander Carlos Hernandez off waivers from the Phillies and are on the hook for the remainder of his $1.16 million contract.

The Orioles dropped their second game in a row Tuesday as Cade Povich fell apart in the fifth inning against the Tigers.

The Tigers remain atop the American League Central, eight games up on the Minnesota Twins. The Orioles are still last in the AL East, 8.5 games back of a Wild Card spot. Time: 6:35 p.m. ET
