US midterms 2026: Republicans put Trump at center of midterm strategy despite political challenges
India, Sept. 9 -- Republicans are placing President Donald Trump at the centre of their midterm election strategy in 2026, achieving their goal of mobilising primary voters while securing support in Congress.
The Republican Party, or the GOP, currently holds the majority in the US House of Representatives as well as the majority of state legislatures. The Republican leaders are Kentucky’s Mitch McConnell in the Senate and Ohio’s John Boehner in the House.
Republican strategist Doug Heye slammed President Trump on Monday for not directing more funding from his super PAC to a variety of GOP campaigns as the Republican Party fights to maintain its control of Congress this fall.
A Waukegan Township Democratic Party news release described the omissions as “serious legal defects,” and one of several signs of an “operation stretched thin.”
In both coalitions, those who say they are more liberal or conservative than their party are also more critical of it.
