The UN Security Council has condemned in the strongest terms the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, underlining the need to hold the perpetrators, organisers and the sponsors of "this reprehensible act of terrorism" accountable and bring them to justice.

On Thursday, the house of two of the three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists was demolished. The first house belonged to Asif Fauji alias Asif Sheikh in South Kashmir’s Tral.

The attack comes after years of relative peace, punctuated only by relatively minor violence, something that the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has attributed to improved security in Kashmir ever since the revocation of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution in 2019, which gave the then-state of Jammu and Kashmir additional autonomy.
