Arthur Folasa Ah Loo was killed when a man who was believed to be part of a peacekeeping team for the protest shot at a person brandishing a rifle at demonstrators, accidentally striking Ah Loo.

Across the country, demonstrators expressed their anguish against President Donald Trump and his administration by taking part in the “No Kings” protests.

While the protest is called “No Kings Day of Definance” across the country, ACLU Hawaiʻi and co-organizers said it is being called “No Dictator Day” in the islands due to the recognition of the Hawaiian Monarchy. The state saw a total of six protests — one on Oʻahu, one on Maui and four on the Big Isle.

A marcher critically wounded in a shooting at Salt Lake City’s 10,000-strong “No Kings” protest on Saturday night has died, police reported Sunday afternoon. “Our victim was not the intended target,” Salt Lake City Police Chief Brian Redd said, “but rather an innocent bystander participating in the demonstration”

Thousands were on hand outside the Hawaii State Capitol on June 14, 2025 for the "No Kings" protest. "It's spanning from all the way across different sections and intersections.
