The New York Mets and San Diego Padres are reportedly in trade discussions despite the respective stars of each team being left out of negotiations.

Amid reports about clubhouse drama and a rift between star Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor, New York Mets manager Carlos Mendoza shut down the speculation.

The Athletic reported Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor and Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. are not part of these trade talks. But the Mets reportedly have their eyes on a few names, including right-handed starting pitcher Nick Pivetta, outfielder Ramón Laureano and relief pitchers Mason Miller, Adrián Morejón and Jeremiah Estrada.

The New York Mets need an outfielder and could acquire one in a trade with the San Diego Padres by parting with David Peterson.
