The National Hurricane Center said July 14 it is tracking a system off the Atlantic coast of Florida that could bring heavy rain to the area.

Regardless of development, heavy rainfall could produce localized flash flooding over portions of Florida and the north-central Gulf coast through the middle to latter portion of this week. The next named storm will be called Dexter. It's unclear if this storm will strengthen into a named storm.

South Florida will see a soggy start to its week due to a potential tropical system that is forecast to form in the Gulf and then move across Florida, the National Weather Service said Sunday.
