Residents in San Antonio were recovering after a month's worth of rain swamped parts of the city, trapping drivers, triggering treacherous water rescues, and leaving more than a dozen people dead.

More than six inches of rain fell in the San Antonio region overnight, surpassing the city’s average rainfall for June and July combined.

At least three people died in San Antonio early Thursday as flash floods hit the area. The city received six inches of rain since midnight.
