(WHTM) — A well-known self-driving taxi company called Waymo is recalling thousands of vehicles because they may drive through closed construction zones. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA),

Waymo says its self-driving vehicles show fewer serious crashes than human drivers, including improved safety outcomes in Austin after millions of miles on the road.

Several cars had to be towed away after their batteries died while sitting in heavy traffic due to Fourth of July celebrations.

You get in, and make sure not to sit where the driver would go, or you will trigger a call with a human agent who can see you through the cars' camera and might give you a strike for bad behaviour. Then you press a button on a display to start the journey, and the car will get going.

Alphabet self-driving unit Waymo is recalling nearly 3,900 robotaxis in the United States because a software issue could cause the vehicles to enter a closed freeway construction zone and continue driving.

In the Arizona city, users can no longer request a Waymo through Uber. The change represents a larger battle over who will control the future of robotaxis.

The incident in Inglewood , California, comes after Waymo recalled more than 3,000 vehicles due to safety concerns

Waymo has acquired a massive 5,500-acre proving ground in Arizona owned by Route 14 Investment Partners LLC, a Delaware shell company associated with Apple, according to documents filed with Maricopa County.
