Severe thunderstorms moved across Northern California on Thursday evening and more storms are expected through the weekend.
The redwood splintered, sending branches onto buildings on Oakmont Drive early Friday, the first day of a three-day storm expected to bring widespread rain showers to the North Bay.
Storm systems bring rain, thunderstorms, and mountain snow across California, before drier and warmer weather returns next week.

"The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits, and has exited the warned area. Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire," states the NWS Sacramento CA. The warning is in effect until 8:30 a.m.
Stormy weather that includes severe thunderstorms and ping pong-sized hail is expected in Northern California on Friday.

On Friday at 7:26 p.m. the NWS Sacramento CA issued an updated severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 7:45 p.m. The warning is for Butte, Colusa and Glenn counties.
