As the Atlantic hurricane season enters its final weeks, forecasters are keeping a close eye on two developing systems—one in the tropical Atlantic heading toward the Caribbean, and another in the North Atlantic that’s gaining some tropical characteristics.

The National Hurricane Center is monitoring Invest 98, a tropical wave heading towards the Caribbean Sea with a 30% chance of development in the next 2 days and a 70% chance in the next week, which could potentially develop into a tropical depression and become the named storm Melissa.
