A new body-on-frame GMC Jimmy looks like it's back in play, with GM shifting gears to bring the Jimmy back after plans to relaunch the nameplate were shelved.

GM's most advanced small-block V8 yet is the LS6 of the 2027 model year Chevrolet Corvette. Powering the Stingray, the Grand Sport, and the successor of the E-Ray, the 6.7-liter engine will reportedly be joined by a couple of truck-only siblings with purported displacements of 5.7 and 6.6 liters.

The Jimmy would share its bones with GMC's mid-size truck and compete with the Toyota 4Runner, Ford Bronco, and Jeep Wrangler.
