Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on Sunday declared a peacetime emergency and mobilized the National Guard to help battle several major wildfires in the state.

Colorado emergency officials are responding to the Sharpe fire as it advances across the southeastern portion of the state. The blaze has prompted mandatory evacuation orders for all of Baca County—affecting approximately 3,500 residents—including the town of Campo.

Governor Walz authorizes the mobilization of the National Guard to assist with the ongoing wildfire response in northern Minnesota.

Crews are working to contain the Stewart Trail Fire, about three miles north of Two Harbors, that has already burned 375 acres and led to highway closures in the area.

The fire is now 30% contained as firefighters work tirelessly for a third straight day against the Stewart Trail Fire.

Authorities in northern Minnesota are asking for tips from the public after a fire suppression aircraft was struck by a bullet on Friday.
