During a press conference on Monday, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) spoke about the Republican-led Texas legislature which decided to hold a special session redrawing Congressional districts in Texas next week following deadly floods in Texas.

Newsom says Republicans are planning to redraw districts in Texas to add more seats to the House, a practice known as gerrymandering. Newsom has been appearing on podcasts and traveling to other states, calling out Trump's current policies.

President Donald Trump pitched a key group of Texas Republicans Tuesday on his strategy for his party to hold onto power in the midterms: Redrawing those members’ districts to allow for even more GOP seats.

With midterm elections approaching, political leaders across the country are sharpening strategies to retain or flip key congressional seats - and California Gov. Gavin Newsom is signaling a possible shift in redistricting policy if Texas redraws its maps to favor Republicans.
