The trends on Gift Nifty indicate a mildly positive start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 23,135 level, a premium of nearly 12 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, opened higher on Thursday, breaking a six-day losing streak, driven by gains in banking and financial stocks as investors responded to domestic inflation data suggesting a potential rate cut.

The S P BSE Sensex was down by 32.11 points to close at 76,138.97, while the NSE Nifty50 lost 13.85 points to end at 23,031.40.

Sun Pharma, Tata Steel, Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Zomato were the biggest gainers.

Tata Steel, Sun Pharma, Bajaj Finance, Cipla, Bajaj Finserv were among the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Adani Enterprises, Hero MotoCorp, Adani Ports, Infosys, ONGC. The Midcap index ended flat,

Sensex climbed 457.60 points, or 0.60 per cent, to 76,628.68. Nifty stood at 23,195.60, up 150.35 points or 0.65 per cent.

The Sensex closed at 76,138.97 by slipping 32.11 points or 0.04 per cent from its previous close. The index moved within a range of 76,764.53 and 76,013.43 during the day.
