Nike did not immediately respond to ABC News' request for comment on Tuesday. Kobe's famous signature series sneakers have been worn by more than 100 NBA players this season, ESPN reported.

The original Kobe Bryant endorsement extension contract with Nike was a 5-year agreement beginning on the date of the Lakers star's final NBA game in 2016, and expiring on April 13, 2021.

In a statement, Nike said the following on Bryant’s departure: “Kobe Bryant was an important part of Nike’s deep connection to consumers. He pushed us and made everyone around him better.
