Authorities have confirmed the safety of another Australian in Nepal following devastating floods, bringing the total number of safe Aussies to eight.

Nepal’s Foreign Ministry said 324 foreign nationals had been rescued so far, while about 590 from 39 countries remained missing a week later.

At least 160 people were killed when floods tore through a Himalayan river valley between Nepal and the Tibet region of China, the authorities said.

The death toll from the flash flood-devastated region of Nepal and Tibet has risen past 470, as rescue efforts continue on both sides of the Himalayan border. The prime minister’s office in Nepal reported on Friday that 469 people were confirmed killed with 977 missing.
