Jake Bauers and the Milwaukee Brewers have agreed to a minor league contract, and the first baseman will report to major league spring training.

Veteran Jake Bauers, 29, who became a free agent on Nov. 4 when he refused a Triple-A assignment, and the Milwaukee Brewers agreed on Monday night to a minor league contract, and the first baseman will report to major league spring training in Phoenix.

In exchange for Bauers last year, the Yankees acquired minor-league outfielders Jace Avina and Brian Sánchez. The Padres selected Bauers in the seventh round of the 2013 draft and he was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays the following year. He spent time with Cleveland, Seattle and Cincinnati before the Reds traded him to the Yankees in 2022.

The Brewers brought first baseman/corner outfielder Jake Bauers back on a minor league contract this afternoon, the team announced. He’ll be in major league camp as a non-roster invitee.
