Millions of Canadians are headed to the polls on Monday in a snap federal election that has largely focused on how the candidates would respond to US President Donald Trump's threats of tariffs as well as his call to make Canada the 51st state.

The first results will come in just after 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time, when voting hours end in the four Atlantic provinces, accounting for a little less than 10% of the seats in play. The vast majority of results will be released at 9:30 p.

Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Liberal Party still appears poised to win, pollsters say, even as its lead over the Conservative Party has shrunk.
