The moon is still big and bright in our skies following the full moon, but you'll notice that each night it's a little darker on the right-hand side (left if you're in the Southern Hemisphere). This is because of the lunar cycle.

August's full moon has peaked, but there is still time to see the full moon this month before it starts to wane. There are only four full moons left in 2025, so some people may want to try to catch every moon while they have the chance.

August's full "sturgeon moon" peaked on Aug. 9, but was best viewed during moonrise on both Aug. 8 and 9 from North America.
